The Formula One Register has published a Record Book on Historic 500cc racing in Europe, from the first Thruxton demonstration event in 1970 to the end of the 2011 season.
The book records for the first time ever in detail the growth of 500cc racing from a handful of races in the 70s, through its inclusion with Formula Junior in the 90s to today where the UK has a fully fledged stand-alone series. The numerous races in Sweden are included, as is 500 participation in Continental events like the F.I.S.A Trophy.
A total of some 800 events are documented! For the vast majority the information provided comprises the entry list, chassis numbers, grid positions, full results with race times and competitors’ fastest laps. In addition, all the 500 OA Wiscombe hill climbs are included.
Also given is the car’s chassis or Register number – approaching 300 identities from AGS to Zig. Please note that as with other Record books, there are no pictures and text is limited to a general overview of the evolution of 500 racing.
